Metal Braces Miami, FL

Thanks to modern technology and countless orthodontic improvements, conventional metal braces are more affordable and comfortable than ever before. SEDA Dental provides a wide selection of orthodontic treatments to accommodate the different wants and needs of our South Florida patients. Traditional braces offer fun customizations that are not possible with clear aligners, such as ClearCorrect and Invisalign. A number of our patients prefer metal braces because it helps them to display their personality by choosing different colored elastic bands. This is particularly an enjoyable feature for younger patients and teenagers who are going to their school sports games because they can show their team spirit. To find out more about conventional metal braces, schedule an appointment at one of our South Florida locations.

Traditional metal braces are a great choice for both adults and children. Our traditional braces are made of top-grade stainless steel archwires and mounts that are strategically positioned to give you the beautiful smile you desire. They are a perfect choice for patients who have jaw alignment issues, gapped or crowded teeth, over- or under-bites, and protruding teeth. In addition, we use high-quality elastic bands that do not readily snap and are easy to put on. During your appointment, we will discuss your orthodontic treatment options and help you select the method that fits your needs and goals.

Following your initial exam, an individualized treatment program will be created for your particular case. When you return to receive your braces, your teeth will be properly cleaned and prepped before applying your metal brackets. After we have applied the bonding agent on your teeth, then your metal brackets will be put on. Once all the brackets are in place, the wire will be threaded through them. You will then have the ability to choose your preferred band color(s). The very small elastics keep the wires connected to the metal brackets. The application procedure typically moves quite fast and patients feel little to no discomfort. You should expect to come back to SEDA Dental around once a month to get adjustments and progress checks.

Metal braces may make flossing and cleaning your teeth harder. That is why good oral hygiene is essential to your orthodontic therapy. Before you leave our office, we will instruct you about how to clean your teeth and provide you with helpful hints. As a rule of thumb, we suggest that you floss and brush your teeth after each meal. Maintaining all of your orthodontic appointments and bi-annual dental cleanings will also help to give you optimal outcomes. Typically, most patients wear braces for 1 – 2 years; however, your treatment period will ultimately depend on the severity of your situation.

Once your treatment is finished, we will take the braces off and fit your teeth for a retainer. Your retainer can help keep your teeth in their new position. We can help you select the right retainer to fit your new smile.

When you have an issue with your braces, do not panic. You might have the ability to solve many issues temporarily on your own until you make an appointment at our office. These issues do not have to create a delay in your therapy. If you feel you cannot fix your orthodontic issue, please contact us.
Loose Band or Bracket
If the bracket or band remains connected to the wire, then leave it where it is. If it is causing discomfort, put sugarless gum or orthodontic wax on it. Occasionally, you are able to take off the rubber band using tweezers so you can detach the mount from the archwire.
Loose Wire
Attempt to push the wire back into position with tweezers. If that is not working, clip the archwire with fingernail clippers or little cable cutters beyond the last tooth that it is firmly attached to. If it is causing pain, place sugarless gum or orthodontic wax on it.
Poking Wire
Put sugarless gum or orthodontic wax on the archwire.
You may have some discomfort for many days following every office visit. Chew carefully on sugarless gum following appointments to reduce discomfort. Rinse your mouth with warm salt water or take nonprescription pain medication as needed.
Loose Appliance
In the event the appliance is poking or sticking you, then place sugarless gum or orthodontic wax over it to stabilize it.

Compared to other orthodontic treatments, conventional metal braces are typically less costly. At your consultation, we will discuss your treatment choices and cost quotes so that you may choose the method that best fits your needs, goals, and budget. If you are using insurance, we will contact your provider to confirm your policy and calculate your out-of-pocket expenses. If you do not have insurance, then SEDA Dental takes several payment methods, and we will be able to help you to find low-interest medical financing.

In recent years, there have been many improvements in orthodontic and dental care for individuals of all ages. Nevertheless, traditional metal braces are still among the most effective methods at SEDA Dental.
